"Solo dance [choreography] does not mean one person dancing, but a focus on a particular aspect of the dance”
–Master Zhang Ke
I decided to write about working with an ensemble and/or solo performances, and the solo dance choreography.
A choreographer needs to be able to execute dance through a group presentation, ensemble dance choreography, as well as solo dance choreography.
Taking a solo dancer, and constructing a solo dance choreography, would imply constructing the dance piece utilizing a particular structure for a particular subject.
If you're trying to construct a solo dance choreography - remember:
Solo dance choreography is different than ensemble dance choreography because of the structure of the solo dance choreography. |
